In the tenth episode of season 1 of Alf titled "Baby, You Can Drive My Car," we see the Tanner family and their alien guest facing a new challenge - young Lynn is about to take her driving test, and Alf is convinced that he can help her pass it with flying colors.
As the episode begins, Alf is discussing his plan with Lynn, insisting that he knows all there is to know about driving - after all, he's seen it all on TV! Lynn is understandably skeptical, but Alf insists, and even manages to convince Willie to let him help out.
Alf begins by teaching Lynn all about the written test, and even takes a practice test himself to prove that he's an expert on the subject. Next, he moves on to the hands-on portion of the test, taking Lynn out for a spin in Brian's toy car. Though things start off smoothly, Alf begins to panic when Lynn takes her hands off the wheel to adjust her sunglasses, and the car careens off the road and crashes!
Despite the setback, Alf refuses to give up, and convinces Lynn to take the real test and let him tag along for moral support. Despite his best efforts to help her cheat with a pair of binoculars and a radio, Lynn ultimately decides to take the test on her own merits.
Things aren't looking good for Lynn at first - she forgets to turn on her blinker and narrowly avoids hitting a pedestrian. But just when it seems like all hope is lost, Alf swoops in to save the day by flying over the car and distracting the test-taker with his antics.
In the end, Lynn passes the test with flying colors, thanks in no small part to Alf's somewhat unconventional methods. And though Willie is a little skeptical about the whole thing, even he has to admit that Alf did a pretty good job after all.
Overall, "Baby, You Can Drive My Car" is a fun and lighthearted episode of Alf that manages to blend humor and heart in equal measure. Despite its somewhat predictable storyline, the episode manages to keep things fresh and entertaining throughout, thanks in large part to the show's talented cast and clever writing. Fans of Alf are sure to enjoy this episode and its many laugh-out-loud moments.
