Ep 7. Everything Stays

In Adventure Time season 7 episode 7, "Everything Stays," viewers are taken on a journey back in time to see how Marceline the Vampire Queen became one of the last remaining creatures to live in the post-apocalyptic world of Ooo. As Marceline spends time with Bubblegum Princess, she becomes filled with a fierce longing to know more about her past. In order to understand the significance of the lullaby, Marceline constructs a machine that will transport her back in time to her childhood home. As Marceline and Bubblegum Princess continue to collect maple syrup in a new location, Marceline activates her time machine.

Once Marceline is transported through time, viewers get a glimpse into her childhood and her relationship with her mother. We see how Marceline's mother, Elise, leaves her to fend for herself in the apocalypse. Elise is later seen returning but is now a powerful vampire. The two have an emotional reunion during which they sing "Everything Stays" together.

As Marceline and her mother sing their lullaby, we learn that it has a deep and powerful meaning to both of them.
