Jake vs Me-Mow is the sixteenth episode of season three of the animated television series Adventure Time. The episode revolves around a tiny assassin cat named Me-Mow, hired by the Guild of Assassins to kill Princess Bubblegum. Jake and Finn set out to stop her, but things become complicated when Me-Mow overhears Jake's wish to live forever and decides to deny him it as revenge for her imminent death should she fail her mission.
The episode begins with a small cat, Me-Mow, being brought before the Guild of Assassins to receive her next target -- Princess Bubblegum. Despite her diminutive size, Me-Mow is an experienced killer, and the Guild is confident in her abilities. They provide her with a special poison that must be administered to the princess before midnight on the third day.
Finn and Jake are unaware of the assassination plot when they meet Me-Mow in the Candy Kingdom. The cat is attempting to find a way into the castle undetected, and the two adventurers offer to help her. In return, Me-Mow agrees to tell them her story and why she wants to kill Princess Bubblegum.
She explains that she is a small cat and has limited time to live, and the Guild has promised her extra years if she completes her mission. Me-Mow has always wanted to live forever and believes that the Guild's offer is the only way to achieve this. Finn and Jake are sympathetic to her plight and offer to help her find a different way to extend her life.
As they work to find a solution, Me-Mow begins to trust the two adventurers and even starts to enjoy their company. However, things take a turn for the worse when she overhears Jake making a wish to live forever. No longer trusting him, she decides to deny him his wish by poisoning him instead of the princess.
Jake becomes the new target and must fight for his life while Finn races against the clock to find an antidote. As the clock ticks down, Me-Mow corners Jake, and they engage in a battle of wits and strength. The outcome of the fight will determine not only Jake's fate but also Me-Mow's.
The episode features the series's signature mix of humor and action, with the addition of a unique twist on the assassin genre. Me-Mow's small size provides a different type of challenge for Finn and Jake, forcing them to rely more on their brains than their brawn. At the same time, her goal of immortality provides a poignant reminder of the human desire for extended life.
In addition to the central plotline, the episode also features several subplots and character moments. The relationship between Finn and Jake is tested as the latter faces mortality, and Finn must grapple with the responsibility of saving his friend's life. Princess Bubblegum appears briefly, reminding viewers of her position as the kingdom's ruler and protector.
Overall, this episode is a standout addition to the Adventure Time series, highlighting the show's ability to balance humor, action, and emotional depth. Me-Mow, while only appearing in this one episode, is a fascinating and well-realized character, providing a unique perspective on the world of assassins and their motivations. Fans of the show will enjoy the blend of slapstick comedy and heartfelt moments that have come to define the series.
