In Adam 12 season 1 episode 16, titled "Log 62 -- Grand Theft Horse," officers Pete Malloy and Jim Reed are on patrol when they receive a call about a stolen horse.
Upon arriving on the scene, they meet with the distraught owner who explains that her prized thoroughbred, Earl, was taken from her stables during the night. The officers immediately begin their investigation and start by canvassing the area for any witnesses or leads.
Their first break in the case comes when they discover that Earl wasn't the only horse stolen recently. A nearby stable also reported a horse missing around the same time as Earl's disappearance.
As they continue to dig deeper, they learn that a local horse trainer, Vic Reynolds, was recently fired from his job at the stable where the other horse was stolen from. This leads them to suspect Reynolds of being behind both thefts.
Pete and Jim then decide to pay a visit to Reynolds' property to see if they can find any evidence. While searching around the property, they stumble upon a hidden stable where they find both Earl and the other stolen horse, safe and sound.
Reynolds quickly confesses to the thefts, explaining that he was planning to take the horses to a different state to sell them for a large profit. Thanks to the quick thinking and thorough investigation of Pete and Jim, the horses are returned to their owners unharmed and Reynolds is taken into custody.
As the episode comes to a close, Pete and Jim reflect on the case and the value of a good police partnership in solving crimes and keeping their community safe.
