Jim and Cheryl get a new baby monitor to keep an eye on their son, but the device unintentionally picks up their neighbors' conversations. Initially amused by the eavesdropping, Jim has to take action when he hears something alarming that could be a matter of life or death. Meanwhile, Andy and his girlfriend Dana are staying at Jim and Cheryl's house for a couple of days, but their public displays of affection and loud activities are driving Jim crazy. He tries to subtly hint to them to tone it down, but they don't seem to get the message. On top of that, Dana is trying to teach Jim how to play the saxophone, but his lack of musical talent is hindering his progress. With all these distractions, it's a wonder Jim can keep his focus long enough to attend his daughter's parent-teacher conference. The episode ends with a heartwarming moment between Jim and Cheryl, proving that despite their differences, they make a great team when it comes to their family.
