Accidentally in Love is a Chinese drama series centered around the life of a wealthy young man, Chen Qing Qing, who, in an effort to escape her controlling father, disguises herself as a boy and enrolls in a university. In season 1 episode 3 titled A New Identity, we see Qing Qing struggling to adjust to her new life as a boy, having to hide her true identity from her roommates and classmates alike.

The episode starts with Qing Qing trying to navigate dorm life with her three new roommates, who are unaware of her true identity. Her dorm mates all turned out to be completely different from each other, adding to Qing Qing's struggles of keeping her identity hidden. Qing Qing tries to fit in with the rest of the group, but she is constantly worried about being discovered. Meanwhile, she continues to be tormented by her father's attempts to get her to come back home.

As Qing Qing tries to juggle her schoolwork and her personal life as a boy, she runs into difficulties when she is pursued by two different girls. One of the girls is her classmate, who has taken it upon herself to show Qing Qing around campus and befriend him. However, Qing Qing is not interested in her, and is just trying to keep her true identity hidden. The other girl is a friend from her past, who happens to be living on the same floor as her in the dorms. This friend is much more interested in Qing Qing than he would like, and he has to find a way to keep her at arm’s length without arousing her suspicions.

As Qing Qing tries to deal with these two girls, she also has to contend with her budding friendship with her roommate, who knows about her true identity. This roommate is a bit eccentric and outgoing, and she encourages Qing Qing to come out of his shell and embrace his new identity. Qing Qing wrestles with this advice, unsure if she wants to expose herself in this way. She decides to take her roommates' advice and joins the school's basketball team, hoping to prove to herself that she can excel at something while keeping her secret.

Throughout the episode, we also see that Qing Qing's father is still trying to track her down and bring her home. He is determined to make her fulfill her obligations as a member of their wealthy family, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Qing Qing becomes increasingly paranoid as she sees his men surveilling her, and she tries to keep her head down and stay out of the public eye.

As the episode comes to a close, Qing Qing realizes that her new identity isn't as easy to maintain as she thought it would be. She is forced to confront her own fears and inadequacies, but also gains the confidence to pursue her own passions. Overall, this episode does an excellent job of laying the groundwork for the rest of the series, and it sets up several interesting plot lines that are sure to keep viewers engaged.
