In episode 5 of Absurd Planet season 1, titled H2 wOah, viewers are taken on a journey through some of the world's most outrageous water creatures. Hosted by naturalist and comedian Barrie Holden, this episode is filled with humor, interesting facts, and a sense of wonder as we get to know some of the animals that call our oceans and rivers home.

The episode starts off with a closer look at one of the most fascinating aquatic creatures - the axolotl. This salamander is native to Mexico and has the ability to completely regenerate its limbs and other body parts, making it the ultimate survivalist. We learn about the axolotl's unique breathing technique that allows it to absorb oxygen through its skin and why their habitat is under threat.

Next up, we head down to the depths of the ocean to meet the aptly-named blobfish. This fish has made headlines in recent years for its uncanny resemblance to a grumpy old man. Barrie explores the blobfish's habitat, which lies about 2,000 feet below the ocean's surface, where the pressure is up to 120 times greater than at the surface. The blobfish is perfectly adapted to this environment, with its gelatinous body that allows it to survive the pressure and lack of food.

As we move on, Barrie introduces us to a creature that many might not have even heard of - the axolotl's distant cousin, the olm. This bizarre salamander lives in underground caves and is completely blind. It uses its other senses, like smell and touch, to navigate through the dark tunnels. We learn about the olm's unique adaptations, like the ability to go without food for up to 10 years, and how scientists are studying its DNA to learn about the evolution of life on Earth.

The episode takes an unexpected turn as we meet the pacu fish, a relative of the piranha, in South America. The pacu has a unique tooth structure that's earned it the nickname "the ball-cutter" due to its tendency to bite off the testicles of unsuspecting swimmers. Barrie explores the reasons behind this behavior and how it has impacted the fishing industry in the region.

Lastly, we get to know some of the world's coolest underwater predators - sharks. Barrie dispels some common misconceptions about these animals and shares some lesser-known facts, like the fact that some sharks can walk on their fins. We see up-close footage of various shark species, from the massive whale shark to the tiny looking lantern shark.

Overall, H2 wOah is a captivating and lighthearted episode that showcases some of the most absurd aquatic creatures on the planet. Barrie's humorous commentary and impressive footage make this episode a must-watch for anyone interested in the natural world.
