The show revolves around the complex relationships between family members and the consequences of their actions. It stars Alyy Khan, Shamim Hilaly in leading roles and also features Atiqa Odho, Fahad Mirza, Yasra Rizvi, Jinaan Hussain and others.
The story is set in Lahore and revolves around the lives of two families, Zainiâs and Shahidâs. Zaini, played by Jinaan Hussain, is the daughter of a successful businessman, Arham (Alyy Khan), who values his wealth more than his family. Zaini is married to Arhamâs friendâs son, Azeem (Fahad Mirza), whom she loves dearly but faces opposition from her father due to Azeemâs financial status.
On the other hand, Shahid (Rehan Sheikh), a close friend and business associate of Arham, has two daughters, Kaneez (Atiqa Odho) and Shehzadi (Yasra Rizvi). Kaneez is the maid of Arhamâs house and she is mistreated by Arham and his family, despite being a hard-working and honest person. The story takes a drastic turn when Azeem divorces Zaini due to the continuous interference of Arham in their married life.
Following the divorce, Zaini is forced to live with her father and step-mother (Shamim Hilaly), who is jealous of her younger step-sisters. Meanwhile, Kaneez, who has been loyal to Arham and his family for several years, decides to take revenge for their mistreatment by pretending to be a wealthy woman and making Arham fall in love with her.
As the story progresses, Zaini and Kaneezâs paths cross and they form an unlikely friendship. Kaneez, who has always felt inferior due to her humble background, slowly learns to assert herself and become a strong and independent woman. She helps Zaini get back on her feet by helping her find a job and they both start working together.
The show deals with complex issues such as domestic violence, gender discrimination, class divide and portrays how these issues affect the lives of people. It highlights the importance of standing up for oneself and fighting against injustice.
The acting performances of the cast, particularly Atiqa Odho and Shamim Hilaly, are commendable. Atiqa Odhoâs portrayal of Kaneez is poignant and powerful, showcasing her journey from a victim to a survivor. Shamim Hilalyâs portrayal of the manipulative step-mother is also noteworthy.
The showâs direction and cinematography are also noteworthy, capturing the essence of Lahore and its rich culture. The music of the show is soulful and adds to the emotional depth of the storyline.
Overall, Aap ki Kaneez is a well-crafted drama that explores the complex relationships between the characters and the consequences of their actions. It is a must-watch for those who enjoy family dramas with a strong message.
