In A Pup Named Scooby Doo season 2 episode 2, titled "Return of Commander Cool," our favorite gang of mystery-solving young pups is at it again! After hearing about a local comic book convention, Fred convinces the gang to go all out and dress up as their favorite superheroes. Daphne chooses Wonder Woman, Velma is Batgirl, Shaggy is Robin, while Fred decides to go as his ultimate hero, Commander Cool.

At the convention, the gang soon bumps into their old friend and fellow hero fanatic, Tad. The group is excited to see him, but things turn sour when he reveals his new favorite hero is none other than Commander Cool! Fred is thrilled with this news and can't wait to show off his costume to Tad. But when they attend the Commander Cool panel, they find out that the original actor who played the character in the TV series, Buddy G., will also be there in the flesh!

As luck would have it, Buddy G. is there to sell his new line of Commander Cool merchandise, but the gang is surprised to hear that Buddy is not a fan of the show and has not even watched an entire episode. Their surprise only escalates when they hear that he has no intention of reprising his role as Commander Cool, nor does he have any interest in attending the upcoming Commander Cool convention that Tad is organizing.

After the panel, Buddy G.'s assistant, Carl, invites the gang to meet with Buddy in his private hotel suite to try and convince him to attend the convention. The group agrees, hoping to convince Buddy to be a hero one last time at Tad's convention. When they arrive, they discover that Buddy is missing, and the only clue is a note that reads "Return to Sender" with a drawing of Commander Cool on it.

The gang immediately jumps into action and splits up to investigate, with Fred and Daphne heading to the convention center and Velma and Shaggy searching the hotel. As they search, they come across a strange figure dressed as Commander Cool sneaking around the convention center. The figure manages to evade them, but Fred and Daphne manage to grab some evidence, revealing that the Commander Cool impersonator is none other than Carl!

Their search for Buddy eventually leads them to a hidden underground lair, where they discover that Carl had kidnapped Buddy and was trying to force him into attending the convention. Carl reveals that he was actually a huge fan of Buddy's portrayal of Commander Cool and was disappointed when he found out the actor had no desire to reprise his role.

With Buddy safely rescued, the gang then attends Tad's convention, where they discover that he has organized a surprise reunion between Buddy and the rest of the original Commander Cool cast. The episode ends with Buddy finally embracing his past and accepting the invitation to attend the convention alongside his fellow cast members once again.

Overall, "Return of Commander Cool" is a fun episode that plays with the nostalgia of older viewers who might remember the original "Commander Cool" show while introducing younger viewers to the concept of convention culture and the joys of dressing up as your favorite superheroes. The mystery is engaging, and the reveal of the true villain is unexpected but satisfying. All in all, it's a solid episode that fans of the series will enjoy.
