Despite the competition from the Kids Next Door, the Mystery Inc. gang remains determined to solve the mystery. They soon discover that the sludge monster is actually a giant robot, created and controlled by a scientist who wants to scare people away from the dump and protect his top-secret experiments.
The gang's investigation leads them to a final showdown with the sludge monster and the scientist. It's a high-stakes battle with lots of twists and turns, and the outcome is never certain. But in the end, the Mystery Inc. gang prevails, and the sludge monster is defeated.
