The Awakening is the second episode of the fourth season of A Haunting. The show aims at depicting paranormal activities happening to various people, which are based on real-life accounts. Each episode has a unique story.
The Awakening revolves around a family that moves into a new home. However, as soon as the family shifts, strange occurrences begin to happen. The mother initially tried to ignore it as mere coincidence, but as events grew more frequent, she became more convinced that there was something supernatural happening in her house. Her daughter also begins to act differently as time goes by. One day as the daughter was sleeping, she claims to have seen a ghost and has nightmares from then on.
To help them deal with the situation, the family enlists the help of a paranormal investigator named Lorraine Warren. Lorraine Warren was part of a team of paranormal investigators. Along with her husband, Ed Warren, both had investigated over ten thousand paranormal cases and wrote many books on the subject. During their time on the case, they discover that the house was built over an ancient burial ground that was desecrated long ago.
As Lorraine Warren gathers more information on the case, she realizes that the spirit trying to contact the family was a young Indian girl who died during the desecration of the burial ground. The girl was a connection to the land and unable to leave even in death. With this new revelation, Lorraine decides to hold a seance to help the spirit pass onto the other side.
During the seance, the family realized that the spirit was still angry about the desecration of the burial ground. They decide to use the ritual to help the spirit find peace by performing a cleansing and burial ceremony.
After the ceremony, the family and the Warrens discover that the disturbances have finally ceased, and peace has been restored to the home. The family is delighted to finally be able to live in their home without fear of disruption by paranormal activity.
The Awakening is yet another successful episode in the A Haunting series. It is riveting and suspenseful, but more importantly, the episode does an excellent job in humanizing the family that is affected by the paranormal activity. The audience can empathize and connect with the family, and the performances by the actors are realistic and relatable. The episode concludes with an uplifting message about the importance of respecting and taking care of the environment around us. It reminds us that every action or inaction can have long-lasting effects on the world and the people around us.
Overall, The Awakening is a gripping and thought-provoking episode that manages to deliver a message alongside spine-chilling horror. It is a testament to the quality of the show and the ability of the production team to take factual accounts and turn them into gripping stories.
