The investigators also conclude that many of the spirits are likely that of former staff members, including a man named Jack who was responsible for performing lobotomies on patients.

The team ultimately decides to perform a cleansing ritual in an attempt to rid the asylum of its negative energy. The ritual involves surrounding the property with salt and sage and reciting prayers to cleanse the area.

Overall, Asylum 49 is a bone-chilling episode that will leave viewers with goosebumps. The show does an excellent job of bringing the history of the hospital to life, and the investigators capture enough proof to leave even the biggest sceptics questioning what they believe. It is a haunting reminder of the inhumane treatment of mental illness and the importance of ensuring those who suffer from it receive the proper care and treatment.
