In A French Village (English subtitled) season 2 episode 9, entitled "What is Your Name (English subtitled)," tensions rise as the Germans increase their demands on the people of Villeneuve. The new mayor, Chassagne, is forced to cooperate with the occupiers, and the town's resistance leader, Raymond Schwartz, struggles to maintain the morale of his group.

Meanwhile, Hortense Larcher, a Jewish teacher who has been hiding in the village, is forced to confront her past when her ex-boyfriend, Bruno, arrives in town as a German officer. Hortense must decide whether to reveal her true identity to Bruno, or risk being discovered by the Germans.

Elsewhere in the episode, Marie Germain, the town's doctor, struggles to save the life of a German soldier while grappling with her own feelings of guilt about the war. Meanwhile, Lucienne is caught up in a dangerous situation with a group of black market smugglers, and Jean Marchetti, the village's police chief, struggles with his loyalty to the French forces and his duty to maintain order in the village.

As the war comes ever closer to Villeneuve, the characters must grapple with the difficult choices they must make in order to survive and protect their loved ones. "What is Your Name (English subtitled)" is a tense, emotionally charged episode that showcases the complex relationships between the characters and the difficult choices they must make in a time of war.
