As the war continues to rage on, the citizens of Villeneuve worry about the influx of German soldiers and what it means for their daily lives. The town's mayor, Servier, tries to reassure the people that everything will be fine, but his words fall on deaf ears. Lucienne, a young schoolteacher, is particularly concerned about the situation and begins to take matters into her own hands. She and several other villagers decide to fight back against the Occupation, risking their lives in the process.
Meanwhile, Daniel, a Jewish doctor living in Villeneuve, is faced with a difficult decision. The Germans have ordered him to report to the local train station, where he will be taken to an unknown destination. Daniel knows that this is likely a death sentence, but he also knows that he needs to stay alive for the sake of his wife and young daughter. He turns to his friend Jean, a local Resistance fighter, for help. Jean agrees to help Daniel escape, but the plan is fraught with danger.
As the day of Daniel's departure approaches, tensions in the village reach a boiling point. The Germans are becoming increasingly aggressive, and the villagers are more frightened than ever before. Lucienne and her fellow Resistance fighters know that they need to act fast if they want to make a difference. They come up with a daring plan to sabotage the train carrying Daniel and other prisoners, but the risks are enormous.
In the end, the fate of Villeneuve hangs in the balance. Will Lucienne and her comrades succeed in their mission, or will the Germans crush their revolution before it even begins? And what will happen to Daniel and the other prisoners if they are caught trying to escape? The risk of death is high, but the people of Villeneuve are willing to do whatever it takes to protect their town and their way of life.
