Asuelu is a 24-year-old from Samoa who moved to the United States to be with his now-wife, Kalani. The couple met while Kalani was on vacation in Samoa, and despite the fact that they come from different cultures and have very different upbringings, they fell in love and decided to try to make their relationship work.
In this episode, titled "Outta My System," viewers get an inside look at the ups and downs of Asuelu and Kalani's relationship as they navigate life as a married couple with two young children. One of the biggest issues between them is their differing expectations when it comes to family and finances.
Asuelu comes from a culture where family is everything, and he believes strongly in giving money to his relatives when they are in need. Kalani, on the other hand, was raised in a more individualistic culture where financial independence is highly valued, and she doesn't understand why Asuelu feels the need to send money to his family back in Samoa.
This tension comes to a head when Asuelu reveals that he wants to send $1000 to his family back in Samoa, even though the couple is already struggling financially. Kalani is furious, arguing that they can't afford to keep sending money to Asuelu's family and that they need to prioritize their own needs first.
Asuelu, however, is insistent, and the couple ends up having a heated argument that leaves both of them feeling frustrated and alone. Kalani accuses Asuelu of being selfish and refusing to listen to her concerns, while Asuelu feels misunderstood and unappreciated.
As they try to work through their issues, viewers also get a closer look at some of the other couples featured on the show. For example, Angela and Michael are trying to navigate their long-distance relationship as Angela prepares to fly to Nigeria to be with Michael. However, Angela is nervous about the trip due to Nigeria's reputation for being unsafe, and the couple ends up having a tense conversation about their future.
Meanwhile, Andrei and Elizabeth are struggling with their own relationship issues as Andrei struggles to find a job that will support their growing family. Elizabeth is frustrated with Andrei's lack of initiative, and the couple has a heart-to-heart about their future and what they want for themselves and their daughter.
Overall, "Outta My System" is a compelling episode that shows the struggles and triumphs of real-life couples as they try to make their relationships work in the face of cultural and financial differences. Whether you're a fan of the show or just curious about the complexities of love and marriage, this episode is well worth watching.
