8 Out of 10 Cats is a British comedy panel show that is dedicated to getting to the bottom of all the wacky and quirky news stories of the past week. Hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr and featuring team captains Dave Spikey and Sean Lock, the show is also a unique mix of pop culture, current events, and quirky chats.
In Series 2 Episode 4, Jimmy Carr welcomes guests Joe Lycett, Sarah Millican, Josh Widdicombe and Claudia Winkleman to the show. The teams are in the process of answering an array of trivia and news questions to determine who has the best wit and knowledge of the bizarre happenings of the week.
The show is set up like a casual night with friends discussing the week's noteworthy events - but with much more hilarity. The questions are varied and witty, with some in the form of polls and satirical news articles, prompting discussion about a wide range of topics that range from funny to topical to political and personal.
During the course of the show, topics come up which the contestants all put their two cents in on. As expected, the conversation turns to politics and politicians, with Trump and Boris Johnson's various gaffes being the staple of the discussion. However, the show also delves into the topics surrounding current events, TV shows and even goes into discussing some of the most absurd things people have done that involves breaking the law.
One of the more challenging rounds of the competition is the 'What Are They Talking About' round, in which contestants must decipher quotes taken out of context. Additionally, the highly entertaining and interactive Visual Evidence round shows videos to the contestants where they must determine what is happening and explain the context of the events.
One of the highlights of the show is the 'Pick of the Polls' round, in which Jimmy reads off a series of bizarre and humorous poll results, and the teams must guess what the public opinion was on the question. For example, in one episode they discuss what percentage of people thought a haircut could ruin a movie.
Overall, the show's format and tone remain light and cheeky throughout, allowing for a lot of laughter and fun. The panelists have great chemistry and are able to joke around with each other, often poking fun at their colleagues' responses. By the end of the show, viewers are bound to be left laughing out loud and amazed at just how weird and wild the world of news can be.
Fans of British panel shows, comedy, and current events will love 8 Out of 10 Cats. Series 2 Episode 4 extends the show's history of brilliant comedy, thoughtful discussions, and wacky antics. As always, the unpredictable humor of the show leads to intense competition and enjoyable laughs.
