In the second episode of the second season of 7th Heaven, titled "See You in September," the Camden family is still reeling from the events of the prior episode. Matt has just returned home after a year at college, and his siblings are struggling to adjust to the fact that he is no longer around all the time.
Meanwhile, Eric and Annie are preparing for a weekend away to celebrate their wedding anniversary. But before they leave, Eric has to deal with a crisis at the church when a teenage boy accidentally sets the building on fire.
The Camdens' eldest son, Matt, is struggling to readjust to living at home with his parents and younger siblings. He has recently returned from a year of college and is finding it difficult to relate to his family in the same way he used to. Tensions are high between Matt and his brother Simon, who is jealous of the attention Matt receives from their parents.
Eric and Annie are looking forward to a weekend away to celebrate their anniversary. However, their plans are thrown into disarray when a teenage boy accidentally sets the church on fire. Eric must help the local firefighters contain the blaze and deal with the aftermath. Meanwhile, Annie tries to keep the kids calm and reassure them that everything will be okay.
At school, Lucy is dealing with her own problems. She has a crush on a boy in her class, but is too shy to talk to him. With the help of her friend, Savannah, Lucy works up the courage to introduce herself to the boy.
Back at home, Ruthie is feeling left out of all the excitement. She asks her parents if she can have a sleepover, but they are hesitant to let her spend the night away from home. After some persuasion from Ruthie, they agree to let her have a movie night with her friends.
As the weekend progresses, the Camdens begin to come to terms with the changes in their lives. Matt starts to bond with Simon and realizes that he needs to make more of an effort to be a part of his family's life. Eric and Annie return from their anniversary trip feeling rejuvenated and ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
"See You in September" is a heartwarming episode that showcases the Camdens' deep love and affection for each other. It reminds us that even in the face of adversity, families can come together and emerge stronger than ever.
