As the family disperses from dinner, we see each of the children struggling with their own personal issues. From oldest son Matt, who is worried about impressing a girl on a first date, to youngest daughter Ruthie who is struggling with not being able to attend school like her siblings, we start to see the unique challenges faced by each of the Camden children. The following day, the family attends church services where Reverend Camden is approached by a young woman named Mary who is pregnant and looking for guidance. Though he is hesitant at first, Reverend Camden ultimately agrees to counsel Mary and her partner, opening up the possibility for future episodes to tackle more challenging social and moral issues.
