In episode 1 of 72 Dangerous Animals: Asia, we are introduced to the dangers of the bustling city of Singapore. While Singapore may seem like a modern metropolis, we learn that it is actually home to a wide variety of deadly creatures.
The episode begins with a warning from the host, Australian wildlife expert Nigel Marven, about the dangers that lurk in Singapore. From venomous spiders to giant snakes, the city is home to some of the most deadly animals in Asia.
We then meet Mark Tay, a field officer from the National Parks Board in Singapore. Mark takes Nigel on a tour of the city's urban parks, where they encounter some of Singapore's most dangerous creatures.

Next, the two men venture into the Singapore Botanic Gardens in search of the giant centipede. Growing up to 20 centimeters long, this creepy crawler is known for its venomous bite. Nigel and Mark have a close encounter with one of these creatures, as it crawls up a tree just inches away from where they are standing.
The episode then shifts to the urban jungle of Singapore's housing estates, where Nigel and Mark search for the yellow crazy ant. This invasive species is known for its destructive behavior, and has caused millions of dollars in damage to electrical equipment throughout Southeast Asia. Nigel and Mark use special cameras to capture footage of the ants' swarming behavior, as they form massive colonies in the walls of buildings.
The final segment of the episode takes us to the island of Pulau Ubin, where Nigel and Mark encounter the saltwater crocodile. Found throughout much of Southeast Asia, these massive reptiles are known for their aggressive behavior and deadly jaws. Nigel and Mark take a small boat through the mangrove swamps of Pulau Ubin, where they spot several crocodiles lurking in the murky waters.
