Ep 18. The Swami

The Swami is the 18th episode of season 1 of the popular Canadian animated sitcom, 6teen. The show revolves around six teenagers, Jude, Jen, Jonesy, Wyatt, Nikki, and Caitlin, who work together at a huge mall called the Galleria. In this episode, the gang is introduced to a mysterious Swami whom they meet inside the mall.

The episode starts with the six friends strolling in the mall, where they see a sign outside a store that says "Fortunes told by the Great Swami". Intrigued, the gang decides to check it out. Inside the shop, they meet the Swami, who is sitting on a fancy cushion surrounded by a purple mist with incense sticks in his hand. The Swami looks like a stereotypical mystic, with a long beard, bright eyes, and a bright robe.

The Swami greets the teenagers and asks them to sit around a glass ball. He then asks the gang to choose a card with different symbols on them. Based on the symbol on the card, the Swami predicts the future for each of the friends. Caitlyn goes first, and the Swami tells her that she will meet a prince soon, but her heart will break. Things take a turn for the worse when Wyatt's fortune predicts that he will die soon.

The Swami then predicts that Jen is going to have an unexpected visitor, which freaks her out since she recently broke up with her boyfriend. Nikki's fortune predicts that she's going to lose a big fight, and Jonesy's fortune is the most hilarious, predicting he will invent something that will change the world, but he will forget the patent.

The gang is excited about their fortunes despite the scary predictions, except for Wyatt, who is terrified of his fortune. The Swami tells them that his predictions come true, and the gang is worried, thinking that Wyatt could actually die. To make matters worse, Wyatt injures his hand while shopping, which only adds to his paranoia.

As the gang wonders what to do, Jude comes up with a plan to find out the truth about the Swami and his predictions. He suggests that they dress up in disguises and then go back to the shop and pretend to be people who have never been there before. In this way, they can test the Swami's abilities and see whether he's authentic or not. The gang agrees, and they all put on different outfits and go back to the shop.

In their disguises, the gang meets the Swami again, and this time, Jude poses as a cowboy, Nikki as a princess, and Jen as a liberated woman, and so on. The Swami again predicts their futures, but instead of giving out the cards, Jude takes the initiative and turns on the lights inside the shop, revealing everything to be fake. As it turns out, the Swami's glass ball was a cheap snow globe, and his purple mist was just smoke from a fog machine.

Jude accuses the Swami of being a fake and demands that he gives back Wyatt's money. The Swami tries to make an excuse, but eventually, he gives Wyatt his money back. The gang leaves the store and is relieved to find out that the Swami is a fraud. The episode ends with Nikki getting ready for her big fight, Wyatt feeling better after getting his money back and Jonesy inventing something amazing, but forgetting to patent it, just like the Swami predicted.

Overall, the Swami's episode was a fun watch, especially for fans of the show. It was amusing watching the gang go undercover and come up with a plan to expose the Swami as a fake. The episode had some light-hearted moments, and the subplots involving the characters' future predictions added depth to the story. In the end, the episode delivered a good moral message about the importance of not believing in false prophets.
