Dick, Who's Coming to Dinner is the sixth episode of the fifth season of the hilarious sci-fi sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. The episode revolves around the Solomons, a group of aliens disguised as humans who are on a mission to study Earth and its inhabitants, particularly the human emotions of love, sex, and humor.
In this episode, the Solomons are preparing for a big dinner party with their new friends, feeling excited to have an opportunity to showcase their culinary and social skills to their human acquaintances. However, things take an unexpected turn when Dick (John Lithgow), the leader of the alien group, receives a surprise visit from his mother, Mrs. Albright (guest star Ruth Gordon).
Mrs. Albright is a tough, no-nonsense woman who has a strained relationship with her son and never quite understood his unconventional ways. When she arrives at the party, she immediately clashes with several of the other guests, including Dick's love interest Dr. Mary Albright (Jane Curtin), his boss Dr. Liam Neesam (guest star Charles Martin Smith), and even Dick's fellow alien Sally (Kristen Johnston).
As tensions rise and tempers flare, Dick finds himself caught in the middle of a family feud that threatens to ruin the party and his relationship with Mary. With his usual quirky humor and alien ingenuity, Dick sets out to save the day and reconcile with his mother, proving once again that even alien life forms can learn a thing or two about love and family.
Filled with witty banter, hilarious antics, and heartfelt moments, Dick, Who's Coming to Dinner is a must-watch episode for fans of 3rd Rock from the Sun and anyone who loves a good family comedy. The episode showcases the talents of the stellar cast, led by the incomparable John Lithgow, and delivers plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments that will leave viewers feeling both entertained and uplifted.
