The Shower Principle: A Description of 30 Rock Season 6 Episode 14
The thirteenth episode of season six saw Jack and Liz struggle with a conflict that started at an unconventional brainstorming session. In the fourteenth episode of the season, titled The Shower Principle, this conflict takes center stage, as Jack and Liz try to figure out how to deal with their newly-discovered mutual attraction.
As the episode starts, Liz is excited to have found a new apartment, which she plans to rent out to a woman named Abby. At the same time, Jack is experiencing an awkward encounter with Avery's mother, Diana, who keeps trying to aid his efforts to secure a political career after Avery's return from North Korea.
However, everything changes for Liz and Jack when Abby cancels her plans to move in with Liz. This leaves Liz feeling unsure about her living situation and turns what was an enjoyable experience into a stressful one. Throughout the episode, Liz finds that she's starting to develop feelings for Jack and that her options for a relationship with him are limited because of his engagement to Avery.
Meanwhile, Jack continues to be confronted by his feelings for Liz, confused by what to do about what feels like a growing attraction between the two of them. As Jack and Liz struggle to come to terms with their new-found feelings for each other, they begin to analyze the Shower Principle, which states that, for friends of the opposite sex, taking a shower together means the end of the friendship.
As always, the episode is filled with comedic moments that fans of the show have come to love. For example, Kenneth finds himself in an awkward situation when he's tasked with choosing the official corn chip of TGS, and ends up having a heated argument with Tracy and Jenna about which brand to choose.
In addition to Kenneth's struggle, Pete decides to start growing a beard, and with the help of a few of the other TGS staff members, he starts to see success. Elsewhere, Tracy treks his way through the city to meet up with his therapist in a series of hilarious events.
The Shower Principle marks one of the most significant turning points in the show's storyline as Liz and Jack's relationship begins to change. Along with these characters' struggles, viewers also get to see more of Jenna and Tracy's hilarious antics, along with Kenneth's increasingly quirky character.
