"Standards and Practices" is the tenth episode of the sixth season of the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. The episode originally aired on January 26, 2012.
In "Standards and Practices," Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) clash with the network's Standards and Practices department over a new skit on their variety show, TGS with Tracy Jordan. Meanwhile, Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) is desperate to keep her relationship with Paul L'Astname (Will Forte) a secret from the rest of the TGS staff. However, when Liz discovers the relationship, she tries to help Jenna keep it under wraps, with unexpected results.
As Liz and Jack continue to battle with Standards and Practices, they each enlist the help of former NBC executive and current Kabletown CEO Hank Hooper (Ken Howard). Hank's involvement leads to a surprising turn of events for Liz and Jack.
"Standards and Practices" also features storylines involving Tracy's search for a new catchphrase and Kenneth Parcell (Jack McBrayer) accidentally getting Jenna's beloved pet bird killed.
