In episode 10 of season 2 of 30 Rock, titled "Episode #210," Liz Lemon, head writer of the sketch comedy show "TGS with Tracy Jordan," finds herself with a bit of a problem. The parent company of NBC, Kabletown, has decided to merge with an oil company, and as a result, the network is now under new management.
Liz is immediately concerned about what this means for the future of "TGS" and the jobs of her staff. She decides to sit down with Jack Donaghy, the executive vice president of NBC, to try and get some answers. But Jack is distracted, as he's just found out that he's going to be a father.
Meanwhile, Tracy Jordan, the unpredictable and sometimes difficult star of "TGS," is in a bit of a funk. He's upset that his name is no longer in the title of the show, and he's not getting the attention he feels he deserves. He decides to team up with a new writer on the show, who is working on a script for a movie about a black superhero.
As the episode progresses, Liz and Jack continue to clash over the future of the show. Liz is worried about cuts to the budget and changes to the format, while Jack just wants to make sure the show continues to be profitable. Ultimately, Liz decides to take matters into her own hands and come up with a plan to save "TGS."
The episode also features a subplot involving Kenneth, the lovable and naive page for NBC. Kenneth is trying to help Tracy with his funk by giving him advice from some self-help books he's been reading. But Tracy takes things too far and ends up going overboard with his new positive attitude.
