In the second episode of the first season of the show 30 Days, the focus is on anti-aging. The premise of this episode is based on whether it is possible to reverse the aging process or not.
The episode features a man named Frank who is a high school principal and is in his mid-50s. Frank has always been conscious of his health and has been going to the gym regularly and consuming a healthy diet. However, as he is getting older, he is constantly worried about the signs of aging that are starting to appear on his body, such as wrinkles, grey hair, and losing muscle mass.
To address his concerns, Frank decides to take part in a 30-day challenge where he will explore the various treatments and methods that have been advertised as solutions to aging. Frank starts off by visiting a dermatologist who explains to him the significance of collagen in skin health, and how it starts to deplete as we age. The dermatologist suggests that Frank receives a treatment called microneedling which is supposed to stimulate increased collagen production.
Frank then visits a fitness center where he meets a group of people who are all over the age of 65 but have managed to maintain their muscle mass and strength. They perform various exercises, including weightlifting and cardio, but most importantly, they work out with high intensity. Frank finds it difficult to keep up with them, and realizes that he may have been working out at a lower intensity than he should have. This inspires Frank to adopt a more intense workout routine.
The next treatment that Frank experiments with is hormone replacement therapy. Frank visits an endocrinologist who explains to him that testosterone levels in men decline as they age, leading to a decrease in muscle mass and bone density. The endocrinologist recommends testosterone therapy which involves injecting testosterone into the body. Frank undergoes a week-long treatment that involves injecting testosterone, and he starts feeling stronger and more energetic. However, he is also warned about the potential side effects of testosterone therapy, such as mood swings, acne, and shrinking of testicles.
Frank then meets with a plastic surgeon who explains to him the various procedures that can be done to reverse the signs of aging, such as eyelid lifts, facelifts, and Botox injections. Frank is skeptical of this approach and decides not to go through with it.
Towards the end of the episode, Frank meets with a group of seniors who have managed to remain healthy well into their 90s. They suggest that the key to staying young is to maintain a positive outlook on life and to remain active. They encourage Frank to continue working out and to keep up a healthy diet.
In the end, Frank concludes that although he may not be able to reverse the aging process completely, there are still steps that he can take to slow it down. He decides to continue with his intense workout routine, maintain a healthy diet, and keep a positive mindset. He feels that the 30-day challenge has helped him reassess his priorities and has given him a new perspective on aging.
