In the second episode of season 7 of 24, titled "Day 7: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M.", tensions continue to rise as a threatening situation unfolds in the nation's capital. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), now a grandfather and working for the FBI, is struggling to balance his personal life with his duty to protect his country.
As the episode opens, we learn that a group of terrorists have infiltrated the White House and are holding the President hostage. They demand that the U.S. military withdraw all forces from Sangala, a fictional country in Africa, or they will kill the President. Meanwhile, the FBI is racing against time to find another group of terrorists who are planning a biological attack in Washington D.C.
Jack is working closely with Agent Renee Walker (Annie Wersching), who he has a complicated past with. They are joined by Larry Moss (Jeffrey Nordling), the head of the FBI's Washington D.C. field office, who is skeptical of Jack's methods and thinks he may be compromised due to his past experiences. However, Jack is convinced that he is the only one who can handle this crisis and repeatedly requests for more autonomy.
As the day progresses, Jack and Renee receive a lead on the whereabouts of the terrorists planning the biological attack. They head to a hotel and engage in a high-stakes gun battle with the suspects, resulting in the capture of one of the terrorists. Jack interrogates the suspect, desperate to learn more about his accomplices and the details of their plan.
Meanwhile, the President's daughter Olivia (Sprague Grayden) is struggling with her own personal demons. She is being blackmailed by a former lover who is threatening to release a damaging video of her if she does not cooperate with him. She confides in her mother, the First Lady (Cherry Jones), but feels overwhelmed and unsure of what to do.
Other significant events in the episode include the shifting alliances of the terrorists and their attempts to cover their tracks, as well as the arrival of a new character named General Benjamin Juma (Tony Todd), who is the leader of the Sangalan forces and is poised to play a major role in the show's ongoing conflict.
Overall, "Day 7: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M." is a fast-paced and intense episode of 24 that sets the stage for the rest of the season. As always, Jack Bauer is at the center of the action and viewers are left on the edge of their seats as they await the next twist in this complex and gripping storyline.
