Ep 17. Day 6: 10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M.

After escaping from the FBI, Jack Bauer heads to the target house to rescue Audrey Raines. Meanwhile, the President meets with the Prime Minister of Russia to try to diffuse a potential national crisis, but the Russian President refuses to cooperate. In addition, the Vice President attempts to persuade Wayne Palmer to declare Jack a terrorist and have him captured.

As Jack enters the target house, he discovers that Audrey has already been moved to another location. He struggles with a group of armed men and manages to escape before the FBI arrives. However, Chloe O'Brian is arrested for aiding Jack and is interrogated by the FBI.

Back at CTU, Milo Pressman contacts Jack and tells him that Audrey is being held at a warehouse. Jack sneaks into the warehouse and finds Audrey being tortured by Chinese agents who believe that she has been working with Jack. Jack frees Audrey and they escape the warehouse, but are soon pursued by Chinese agents.

As Jack and Audrey try to evade their pursuers, they are ambushed by a military unit led by an old acquaintance of Jack's, who claims that Jack is a traitor. After a brief argument, Jack is able to convince the commander to release Audrey and allow him to continue his mission.

Meanwhile, Wayne Palmer meets with the Vice President and discovers that he has been removed from his position as Acting President and that the Vice President is now in charge. The Vice President urges Wayne to declare Jack a terrorist and allow the military to capture him. Wayne refuses and instead decides to contact his sister, the former President, for advice on how to proceed.

As Jack and Audrey make their way to a safe location, they are once again ambushed by Chinese agents. Jack is able to take out the agents, but is shot in the shoulder in the process. Audrey tends to Jack's wound and they continue on their journey.

Back at the President's meeting with the Russian Prime Minister, it becomes clear that the Russian President has no intention of cooperating. The President is forced to make a difficult decision and orders a strike on a Russian installation.

As the episode comes to a close, Jack and Audrey arrive at a boat that will take them to safety. However, they are once again ambushed by Chinese agents who are determined to capture Jack. In a dramatic cliffhanger, Jack is left fighting for his life as the episode ends.
