In Day 6: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M., the 16th episode of the sixth season of 24, tensions are high as the clock continues to tick down. The episode begins with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) heading to the Russian Consulate to negotiate the release of Gredenko (Rade Serbedzija) in exchange for a component for a nuclear bomb. Meanwhile, President Wayne Palmer (DB Woodside) is struggling to maintain control of the situation as the Russians continue to deny any involvement in the day's events.
As Jack makes his way to the Consulate, he is ambushed by a group of Russian operatives. After a fierce firefight, Jack manages to take out the Russians and make his way inside. He negotiates with Gredenko, but things take a turn for the worse when Jack discovers that Gredenko has already sold the component to someone else.
Back at CTU, Agent Morris O'Brian (Carlo Rota) is struggling with the guilt of his involvement in the day's events. His wife, Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), tries to console him but is distracted by the task of tracking down the nuclear bombs.
Elsewhere, the situation at the White House grows increasingly tense as VP Noah Daniels (Powers Boothe) challenges the authority of President Palmer. Daniels is convinced that a preemptive strike on the Russian government is the only way to prevent a nuclear war. Palmer, however, refuses to make such a rash decision.
As the hour progresses, Jack races against the clock to track down the missing component before the terrorists can complete their bomb. He teams up with former CTU Director Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) to raid an arms dealer's hideout. Jack manages to secure the component and races back to CTU to disarm the final bomb.
As the clock strikes 10:00 P.M., it seems that CTU has succeeded in disarming all of the nuclear bombs. However, just as they begin to relax, a shocking new development threatens to send their efforts into chaos once again.
Day 6: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. is a high-stakes episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat until the very end. With multiple plot threads coming together, it demonstrates the complexity and urgency that has made 24 such a beloved and enduring series.
