In Day 2: 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. of 24 season 2, chaos ensues as Jack Bauer, the hero of the show, tries to prevent a nuclear disaster from taking place. The episode picks up with Jack racing against time to save Los Angeles from a nuclear bomb that has been planted by terrorists.
As the clock ticks down, Jack reaches out to David Palmer, the President of the United States, to try and persuade him to order the evacuation of the city. However, Palmer is hesitant to take such a drastic step, as it would cause panic and chaos amongst the citizens.
Meanwhile, the terrorists continue to taunt Jack, leaving him a series of clues that serve to prolong the inevitable and raise the stakes even higher. As Jack frantically tries to follow these clues and get closer to the bomb, he is forced to make some difficult decisions that could have serious consequences.
In the White House, Vice President Jim Prescott is growing increasingly impatient with Palmer's reluctance to evacuate the city. He begins to pressure the President to take action and starts to undermine his authority by speaking with his cabinet members behind his back.
In the CTU (Counter Terrorism Unit) headquarters, Chloe O'Brian is working to decrypt a message that has been intercepted from the terrorists. However, she is having trouble cracking the code, and time is running out. With the pressure mounting, she turns to Edgar Stiles for help.
As the episode progresses, the tension mounts, and Jack's race against time becomes ever more desperate. With each passing moment, the situation becomes more critical, and the fate of Los Angeles hangs in the balance.
