Jack Bauer is still trying to find the evidence that will prove President Palmer was not involved in the three nuclear bombs that went off earlier that day. He knows that the evidence must be in the hands of the real bomber, but no one knows who that is. Meanwhile, Marie Warner, the sister of Kate Warner, who is dating Jack, is using her new security clearance to try and destroy the evidence incriminating their father Bob Warner in the bombing.

Jack and Kate confront Marie and demand to know what she has been doing. Marie tells them that she has been blackmailing her father Bob with some damaging evidence, but insists that Bob was not the bomber. She explains that she was approached by a man who threatened to kill her and her boyfriend if she didn't help him get the evidence he needed to blackmail the president. The man turned out to be a member of a terrorist group called Second Wave, which was trying to start a war between the United States and the Middle East.

The terrorists are now closing in on Jack and Kate, who are trying to get to the evidence before it falls into the wrong hands. Jack manages to track down the bomber, who is a former employee of CTU, but the man is killed in a shootout before he can reveal anything. Kate and Jack believe that Marie may still have information that could help them, but she has disappeared.

Meanwhile, President Palmer is in danger of losing the support of the Vice President and other cabinet members, who want him to launch a military strike against the Middle East. Palmer knows that the evidence against him is false, but he also knows that he needs to act quickly if he is to prevent a war that could cause millions of deaths.

With time running out, Jack and Kate break into the Warner house to search for clues. They find Marie's computer, which contains the evidence incriminating her father. They also find evidence that someone from CTU was involved in the bombing, and they are shocked to discover that it is Tony Almeida, one of Jack's colleagues and friends.

Tony confesses that he was working undercover to infiltrate the terrorist group, and that he was forced to help them set off the bombs in order to maintain his cover. Jack is devastated, but he knows that he needs to focus on stopping the terrorists before they can strike again. He sets out to find the leader of Second Wave, but he and his team are ambushed and taken captive.

The episode ends with Jack being taken to a remote location, where he is tortured and interrogated by the terrorist leader. It is clear that Jack's life is in great danger, and the fate of millions of people depends on whether he can hold out long enough to prevent the terrorists from launching another attack.

Day 2: 3:00 A.M.-4:00 A.M. is a tense and thrilling episode that sets up the final few episodes of the season. With the clock ticking down, Jack must act quickly to stop the terrorists from launching another attack, while also dealing with the betrayal of his colleague Tony. It is a gripping episode that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering what will happen next.
