Jack Bauer is a Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent who is living through one of the toughest days of his life in the second season of 24. The second season of the show takes place one year after the first season in which Bauer saved the US from a terrorist attack. Day 2: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. is the eighteenth episode of the second season which originally aired on April 1, 2003.

The episode starts with Renee Walker, a new character in the show, taking charge of CTU after the death of Alberta Green in the preceding episode. She has an intense conversation with Michelle, who was recently released from the hospital after being poisoned. Meanwhile, Bauer goes to the airfield with Yusuf Auda, who claims to know where the bomb is. Bauer is desperate to find the bomb as soon as possible because President Palmer's life is in danger, and he needs to disarm it before it destroys Los Angeles.

At the airport, Jack and Yusuf meet with an intermediary who has the detonator for the bomb. The terrorist group behind the bomb, called Second Wave, has given the detonator to him, and he tells Jack that the device is set to go off in the next hour. The intermediary tries to run away with the detonator, but Jack chases and catches him. Yusuf disarms the bomb, and CTU discovers that it was a decoy. They now know that Second Wave has another bomb and are on high alert.

Meanwhile, at CTU headquarters, Tony is still trying to find out the identity of the person who killed George Mason, and Chloe is busy tracking the hacker who helped the terrorist. Tony is under immense pressure to find the murderer because he fears that Michelle may be in danger.

As the episode progresses, Jack learns that Second Wave has moved the bomb to a new location, and they are planning to detonate it soon. Jack calls President Palmer to warn him about the bomb and its location, but Palmer decides not to evacuate the city as it would create chaos. Instead, he asks Jack to locate and disarm the bomb using his own team.

Jack meets with the Second Wave operative who agreed to help him in exchange for his family to be relocated in the US. The operative shows him the location of the new bomb, and Jack is reunited with Kate, who is working with the LAPD bomb squad. Together, they search for the bomb.

In the meantime, Tony is getting closer to finding the murderer as he tracks down the logs of the CTU computer. During his search, he discovers that Michelle's computer was accessed minutes before she was attacked, and it leads him to the killer's identity. The episode ends with a tense moment as Jack and Kate try to disarm the bomb, and Tony confronts the murderer.

Day 2: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. is a thrilling episode that perfectly encapsulates the show's intense and complex narrative. It highlights the various storylines that are running parallel to each other and showcases the strengths of each character. As always, Jack Bauer is the star of the episode and the one who is always on the front line to save the day. The episode also introduces Renee Walker, who becomes an essential character in the later seasons of the show. Overall, Day 2: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. is a great example of how 24 combines action, intrigue, and suspense to create a compelling and addictive drama.
