New York City is known for many things and one of them happens to be the New York Comic Con. This annual event brings together fans of all genres and ages to celebrate all things related to popular culture, from comic books and graphic novels to movies and TV shows. The 2018 New York Comic Con was no exception with over 250,000 attendees from around the world descending upon the Javits Center to experience the ultimate fan experience.
As part of the NY Comic Con experience, SYFY brought their A-game in the form of an interactive booth and panel discussions featuring some of the hottest shows of the year. Fans had the opportunity to meet their favorite celebrities, take photos with iconic sets and props, and even participate in fun activations like a virtual reality experience.
One of the most exciting experiences at the SYFY booth was the "Krypton" activation. Fans could step into the world of Superman's home planet and take photos with the iconic statue of the El family crest. This was the perfect opportunity for fans to immerse themselves in the world of Krypton and get a sneak peek at what's to come in the upcoming season.
Another popular booth was the "Deadly Class" activation, where fans had the chance to sit in a replica classroom from the show and even take photos with the cast. "Deadly Class" is a new show set in the late-1980s, following a group of misfit teenagers as they undergo training to become assassins. The booth was decorated with school desks, lockers, and other elements from the show, providing a unique immersive experience for fans.
SYFY wasn't just about activations, but also featured some fantastic panels with stars from some of the network's most popular shows. One of the most anticipated panels was "The Magicians", a fantasy series about students at a school for magic. The panel featured showrunners Sera Gamble and John McNamara, along with cast members Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, and Hale Appleman. Fans got to ask the panel questions about what to expect in the upcoming season, as well as about their experiences working on the hit show.
Another popular panel was "Nightflyers", a new series based on the novella by George R.R. Martin. The panel included showrunner Jeff Buhler and cast members Gretchen Mol, David Ajala, Eoin Macken, and Jodie Turner-Smith. Fans were treated to sneak peeks of the upcoming season and the chance to hear from the cast and creators about their experiences bringing the story to life.
One of the most unique experiences at the SYFY booth was the "Wynonna Earp" escape room. Fans could work together to solve puzzles and get out of a haunted room. This was a fun way for fans to engage with the show and feel like they were part of the action.
Overall, the 2018 New York Comic Con was a huge success for SYFY. The network brought some of their biggest and most exciting shows to the forefront with interactive experiences and engaging panel discussions. Fans were able to experience their favorite shows in a new and exciting way, and there was something for everyone to enjoy.
