ABC's 20/20 takes a closer look at the infamous case of the Chippendales Murder in its season 45, episode 13. The episode is based on a true story that shook America in the 1980s. The Chippendales was a popular dance troupe that was composed of muscular men who performed stunts and erotic dance routines. With their trademark bow ties and cuffs, the Chippendales became a household name in the 80s.

The episode explores the dark side of the entertainment industry and the violence that ensued when two men tried to take control of the Chippendales. Somen "Steve" Banerjee, the founder of Chippendales, was an immigrant from India who had a dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur. With his charismatic personality and business acumen, Banerjee created a multimillion-dollar empire that featured exotic dancers, merchandise, and even a magazine.

However, Banerjee's success was threatened when his business partner, Nick De Noia, started taking an active role in the Chippendales' operations. De Noia was a New York City showbiz veteran who had worked with top stars such as Madonna, Cher, and Michael Jackson. He was brought on board by Banerjee to bring more creativity and direction to the Chippendales. However, their working relationship quickly soured, and De Noia was fired from the company.

The episode delves into the details of De Noia's murder and the events leading up to it. On the night of November 7, 1987, De Noia was shot to death in his office in New York City. The police soon discovered that Banerjee had hired hitman, Ray Cowlings, to carry out the murder. Cowlings was a bodybuilder who had worked at Chippendales and had become Banerjee's confidante. The murder was a result of Banerjee's obsession with power and control over the Chippendales.

The episode features interviews with several people who were connected to the Chippendales, including former dancers and employees. They provide insight into Banerjee's personality, his business tactics, and the atmosphere within the Chippendales. The episode also includes archival footage of Banerjee and De Noia, as well as courtroom scenes from the murder trial.

ABC's 20/20 does an excellent job of presenting the case and exploring the personalities involved. The episode raises important questions about the dark side of the entertainment business and the lengths to which people will go to maintain control. The Chippendales Murder is a gripping episode that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
