'New Girl' Actress Zooey Deschanel Debuts Her New Sweetie

It’s been six months since “New Girl” star Zooey Deschanel finalized her divorce to Death Cab For Cutie frontman, Ben Gibbard, and it looks like the quirky brunette is back on the dating scene.

Deschanel was spotted leaving a barbeque with screenwriter Jamie Linden, and the two shared some adorable (of course) smooches in the street. The actress also looks to be holding a rose. Aww.

Since Linden is best known for penning the screen version of tear-jerking “Dear John,” and the emotionally fraught “We Are Marshall,” the blue-eyed cutie probably knows how to get to a girl’s heart. Bonus, a friend of Deschanel says the writer is “funny, and a little geeky,” and an overall nice guy.

Sounds just about right for the oddity-loving actress.

And it probably helps that Linden bears a pretty striking resemblance to Deschanel’s ex. Guess the girl’s got a very specific type in mind when going for mates. Sorry, boys.

However if we were Linden, we’d be a little wary. Though Deschanel’s divorce was “amicable” and the actress insisted “We’re friendly. It’s all fine,” her marriage was a short-lived two years.

But that’s the life of showbiz, right? Busy hours, tours, etc. etc. Sometimes sacrifices are made between being worth over 3.5 million and having a normal life. Guess which one I’d pick…

Either way, it’s good to see the bubbly lady out and about, and looking flipping amazing in that little red dress. We hope that her marriage was informative, at least, and that she and Linden can work something out, because, those two? Wow.

They would seriously have the bluest-eyed babies the world will ever see.
