Zach Galifinakis to Star in FX Series 'Baskets,' Co-Written by Louis C.K. Ready to laugh?

FX has ordered 10 episodes of "Baskets," a comedy created by Zach Galifinakis, Louis C.K., and Jonathan Krisel. Galifinakis will star.

It follows Chip Baskets (Galifinakis), a man from Bakersfield, CA, who dreams of becoming a well-known entertainer.

"In a world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenization of society, one man... dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown. But after an unsuccessful enrollment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rode. 'Baskets' follows Chip Baskets' pursuit of his dream, against all odds, to be a respected clown."

Huh. Sounds a little hokey, but if anyone can pull off something so silly, it's Galifinakis.

Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, assures audiences that they will eat "Baskets" up.

"Zach Galifinakis, Louis C.K., and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show. To say Zach's portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can't wait for the world to meet him."

Emmy Award-nominated Krisel is set to direct and act as showrunner. He has previously written for "Portlandia" and "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!"

Louis C.K. has also won an Emmy Award for his work on his own show, "Louis."

"Baskets" will hit the air in 2016. Catch Galifinakis, who will be appearing alongside Michael Keaton and Emma Stone, in the upcoming dark comedy "Birdman."
