Zach Braff Cast in 'Oz: the Great and Powerful'

If you're wondering what Zach Braff has been doing since "Scrubs" ended last year, here's your answer. Braff is in final negotiations to take a role in "Oz: The Great and Powerful," which is quickly filling out its starring roles.

Braff will be playing Frank, the assistant to Oz (who will be played by James Franco). It's unclear how big the role will be...after all, the wizard gets swept away in his hot air balloon, and it would seem that Frank is probably left behind. But hey, what do I know, I didn't write the thing.

Braff joins the aforementioned Franco, along with Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz, who will play the trio of witches Theodora, Glinda and Evanora, respectively. Word is that the plot of the film will follow the struggle between Glinda (the good witch) and Evanora (the bad witch), with Theodora caught in between. The young but very talented cast is turning out very nicely!

Braff has also been busy elsewhere, as he's starring in the film "High Cost of Living" which is showing at Tribeca, and is opening his first play, "All New People" (which he wrote) off-Broadway.

"Oz: the Great and Powerful" plans to begin filming in Michigan this summer, with the aim of releasing in early March of 2013.
