Yidio's Required Reading 3/31/11: Bourdain's Brew-hahah, Easton Ellis on 'Jersey Shore,' Ad Age on 'Mad Men'

Yidio's Required Reading 3/31/11: Bourdain's Brew-hahah, Easton Ellis on 'Jersey Shore,' Ad Age on 'Mad Men' When we're not feverishly penning articles about breaking news in the entertainment world, we're digging into these great articles about the shows and films we love. Here's what we're reading today:

Ad Age - Why 'Mad Men' Needs to Embrace More Advertising, Not Shun It

As "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner negotiates with AMC regarding the upcoming season, the ad industry explains why a show about advertising needs more advertising. It's so meta, it hurts.

BeerNews.org - Report: Brew Masters cancelled, Bourdain says "Big beer threatened to pull ads"

When the Discovery Channel pulled the plug on the craft brewing show "Brew Masters" just as the major beer companies were lobbying for legislation promoting tighter distribution, Anthony Bourdain smelled a rat, and he may have found one. Being from Chicago, where Goose Island Brewing just joined the Anheuser-Busch beerocracy (for shame), this one hits close to home.

Playboy - Brett Easton Ellis Breaks Down "Jersey Shore"

Brett Easton Ellis is an American literary treasure, having penned great nvoels like "Less Than Zero," "American Psycho" and "The Informers." He's also a well known pop culture freak, and his breakdown of "Jersey Shore" is something to behold. It's from January's Playboy, but there's no accompanying pictures in this version (sorry hombres).

While we're not used to calling out two month old articles, as Easton Ellis tweeted "No one seemed to read my 'Jersey Shore' article in January's Playboy except for my trainer but only because he was banging the centerfold..."

We'll do our best to change that, Brett.
