Yidio Calls It: 'The Paul Reiser Show' Cancelled After Two Episodes

Yidio Calls It: 'The Paul Reiser Show' Cancelled After Two Episodes Just the other day, you might have read this among the musings on Yidio: "We'd lay serious money on the show not lasting beyond this season."

The show in question is "The Paul Reiser Show," and guess what: we were right. Not only did the show not last past this season, it has been pulled from NBC's schedule after just two episodes! It takes very poor ratings for a show to be pulled after just two weeks, but the 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demo in its second week, a drop of 18 percent, was enough to convince NBC to cancel the show.

How did things turn out so badly for Reiser and company? Reiser himself noted that the show had been rushed to air: "This was shortest ramp up in the history of television. Literally 20 days ago [NBC] said, ‘We’re putting you up,"' Reiser told THR.

This begs the question: should NBC have bothered canceling "Perfect Couples," which "The Paul Reiser Show" replaced, with a few episodes left to air? Maybe Reiser's sitcom could have fared better with a few extra weeks of preparation while "Perfect Couples" ended its season.

In its place, NBC will now air reruns of "The Office," which is enjoying higher ratings as of late due to the guest arc of Will Ferrell and the impending departure of Steve Carell.
