Yes, There Will Be Scary Killer Clowns in 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

If you're one of the many people who are terrified of clowns, you might want to approach the new "American Horror Story" season with caution.

A few details about the show's next season have emerged thus far: We know that Michael Chiklis and Kathy Bates will be the divorced parents of Evan Peters' character, for example. We also know that Denis O'Hare and Jessica Lange's characters will be "working at cross-purposes" with each other, as per O'Hare's own words.

But the newest detail might be the spookiest: "American Horror Story: Freak Show" will feature a killer clown.

"It’s turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark," said creator Ryan Murphy in an interview with EW. "But look — if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it’s going to be dark."

A murderous clown? "Yes," confirms Murphy, promising that this will be "the most terrifying clown ever!" Sign us up!

But of course there will be a scary clown in the show somewhere. After all, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" takes place in a circus of sorts in 1950's Florida, run by Lange's character. So if you're the type who shies away from county fairs, this might be a tough season for you to watch.
