Yay! Fox Renews 'Bob's Burgers' for More Animated Fun

Yay! Fox Renews 'Bob's Burgers' for More Animated Fun Could it be that Fox as learned its lesson?

Back in the early days of "Family Guy," Fox played fast and loose with the animated show's fate, moving it around in the schedule and cancelling it seemingly without much thought. It was only after fans began buying DVDs in droves and reruns of the show became popular on Adult Swim that Fox realized its error and brought "Family Guy" back on the air.

Additionally, Fox cancelled the much-loved animated comedy "Futurama," which also sold well in DVD form after cancellation and was later picked up by Comedy Central. The show has been renewed for two more years on the cable network.

Fox seems determined not to make the same mistake again: just today, it was announced that the Fox animated comedy "Bob's Burgers" will be renewed for another season. The show has had a lackluster performance in terms of ratings, pulling in about 4.7 million viewers on average.

The critics have mostly loved the show, however, and fan support has been impressive as well: just this week, fan pages asking Fox to renew the show sprung up on Facebook. We recently named "Bob's Burgers" as one of the five best animated shows on TV, and we stand by that claim!

"Bob's Burgers" joins other Fox animated shows "Family Guy," "American Dad," "The Cleveland Show" and "The Simpsons," which have all been renewed as well. In addition, Fox is developing two other animated series: "Allen Gregory," which features the voices of Will Forte and Jonah Hill, and "Napoleon Dynamite," which is based on the movie of the same name.
