Xena Reboot: What We Know So Far
by EG
It's been a rollercoaster ride for fans of Xena: Warrior Princess these past few months. First there was a rumor that a reboot of the cult classic fantasy series was in the works, and then the original show's star, Lucy Lawless, stomped on those rumors by saying that, as far as she knew, there was no revival on the horizon. Now we know that she was wrong and that NBC, without a doubt, is developing a new Xena series. But what else do we know?
First of all, we know that key members of the original series' top-level creative team will be back for the reboot. Executive producer Sam Raimi will help to oversee the new series, and Xena's co-creator, Rob Tapert, will also be part of the new project.
We also know that writer Javier Grillo-Marxauch, who has an impressive writing resume that includes work on Lost, Medium and Helix, will work on the new show, serving as both a writer and producer.
There are, however, some important things that we don't know. We don't know when production will start or when the new series will air. We also don't know if Lawless will reprise her role as Xena, although you'd have to think that Tapert is doing his best to convince his wife to join the team.
