'The X Factor': Watch Melanie Amaro Be Crowned Winner and Cry Through Her Victory Song

'The X Factor': Watch Melanie Amaro Be Crowned Winner and Cry Through Her Victory Song It just wouldn't be "The X Factor" without a sob fest, would it?

Last night, Melanie Amaro was crowned winner of "The X Factor," meaning she gets a Pepsi commercial during the Super Bowl and a $5 million recording contract. Not a bad prize.

Amaro was beside herself when she was announced winner, so much so that host Steve Jones (as he has been so many times before on this show) was completely unable to get a statement from her.

Jones then went to runner-up Josh Krajcik and his mentor Nicole Scherzinger for comments, and spoke to Amaro's mentor Simon Cowell, only to find that Amaro had been surrounded by her family members who had rushed the stage.

Giving up on getting any comments, Jones took the camera to the side of the stage (presumably so that stage hands could pry Amaro's relatives off of her) and introduced Amaro one last time for her victory song. Amaro then sobbed her way through "Listen," the song she originally auditioned with, pausing multiple times to cry. She was joined by the rest of the top 12 finalists on stage.

Finally, Jones managed to get a few words out of her: "Thank you," said Amaro, a Virgin Islands native who grew up in Sunrise, Florida. "This is all I've ever wanted," she sobbed, adding "God is good."
