'X Factor' Season Two Wants Two Hosts, 'More Americans'
by Andy NeuenschwanderFollowing the triple firing of Steve Jones, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger from "The X Factor," producer and mentor Simon Cowell has a lot of hiring to do. In fact, it looks like he might have to hire on one more person than he fired!
In a recent press call, Cowell confirmed that he wants to go back to the original plan for the hosting of the show, which had two hosts working together to run things. Scherzinger and Jones were supposed to host together, but that plan fell through when Scherzinger was moved to the mentors' table.
"I think that it’s almost impossible to have one person doing the hosting job," said Cowell. "You’ve got to give out so much information now, the telephone lines, the integration of the sponsors."
We certainly know about that last part, don't we? What would these vocal competition shows be without an attempt to shove a soda down our throats?
Cowell noted that he doesn't have a clear choice yet for these two hosts, but there should be an announcement within the next two weeks, and they might both be female... there's another aspect that would separate "X Factor" from "American Idol" and "The Voice."
One thing is certain, even though Cowell seems a little nervous about it: these new hires will likely be American. "I do think it’s important – I’m going to talk myself out of a job here,” Cowell said dryly, “that we have more Americans on the show."
