'X Factor' Reveals Top 16: Did the Judges Choose Wisely?
by Andy NeuenschwanderThere was no baseball and no presidential debate tonight, so "The X Factor" could finally reveal its top 16 without being interrupted, as it was so rudely last week. So if you've been on pins and needles since Thursday wondering who else made the cut and will be going on to the live shows, here's the official top 16:
Teens
Diamond White
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Arin Ray
Beatrice Miller
Over 25s
Vino Alan
Jason Brock
David Correy
Tate Stevens
Groups
Lyric 145
Lylas
Emblem3
Sister C
Young Adults
Jennel Garcia
Willie Jones
Paige Thomas
Cece Frey
So, did the judges make the right choices? In some cases, yes: Britney has a very strong team, with the only vocal weak link being Arin, who should still do okay as young men do with voters who watch these shows. The Over 25s makes sense, and kudos to L.A. for ditching the very annoying and showy Tara Simon.
And Simon Cowell did as well as he could with the groups, though it's surprising to see Lylas make it through over Playback, especially considering the current One Direction craze. Here's hoping the dynamic Lyric 145 can overcome the general resistance this audience has to rap and make it far.
There's a glaring problem with the Young Adults, though: Jillian Jensen was left out. As great as Willie Jones is, Jillian is far more talented and deserves that spot. You have to wonder if "X Factor" is going to pull a similar move as last year, when they brought Melanie Amaro back from elimination and expanded the Girls category to five contestants.
What do you think of the choices? Did Jillian Jensen get robbed? Let us know in the comments!
