'X Factor' Preview: Watch One Contestant Totally Burn Demi Lovato

'X Factor' Preview: Watch One Contestant Totally Burn Demi Lovato We learned last year on the first season of "The X Factor" that insults will be hurled at contestants without hesitation, especially when Simon Cowell is around. But this second season brings a couple of pop stars in (Demi Lovato and Britney Spears), and it seems that they will be easy targets for contestants.

This preview clip from the upcoming season two premiere illustrates that point: as one contestant finishes his (truly awful) performance, Cowell gives him the usual treatment, saying that he's "like a mouse trying to be an elephant." You can interpret that how you will.

Normally that would be the end of the conversation, but this particular contestant gets snippy, talking about how hard he's worked and how he shouldn't be criticized. Lovato, who has said that she's the "happy judge" of the four, gently reminds him that a lot of people work hard, but it doesn't always turn out.

"That's why you use auto-tune and I don't," he retorts. Ouch, burn.

Of course, this is "The X Factor," so it's very likely that he was fed that line, or at least given the go-ahead by producers to insult the talent. But this does promise some fun in those early audition rounds, pre-produced or not: this time, the contestants will bite back.
