'The X Factor' to Cut 5 Contestants: Who Do You Think Will Go?

'The X Factor' to Cut 5 Contestants: Who Do You Think Will Go? Last week, we got a bit of a surprise when Simon Cowell decided to include one extra competitor in the first live show of "The X Factor." Cowell drove to Melanie Amaro's house and reinstated her into the competition personally, turning the final 16 into the final 17.

That's all well and good, but it means that at some point there will have to be one extra elimination. It turns out we won't have to wait long: that extra elimination will happen tonight during the very first live show.

"The X Factor" tweeted Sunday night that five competitors will be eliminated on Tuesday, 10/25 instead of just four. That means that almost one third of the remaining comeptitors will be going home, crushed dreams in hand.

Who will be eliminated? The choices of the judges have been a little erratic thus far (especially by Paula and Simon), so it's tough to say for certain. However, there are a few standouts in each category that haven't thoroughly wowed their mentors thus far.

Dexter Haygood is on thin ice in the Over 30s as he seemingly snuck into this final group. He's talented, but has problems with having an original identity and hasn't put out a truly solid performance yet.

Phillip Lomax might be in trouble for the Boys, not because he's a weak singer but rather because his style might not be as marketable. The judges are looking for a "global star," and Phillip focuses on jazz in the style of Frank Sinatra... so he might be a few decades out of place.

The Groups might be the weakest category, as two of the groups that made it to this upcoming live show are actually assembled of soloist that failed to make it past Boot Camp. InTENsity has some talent, but not from every member, and with ten members between the ages of 12 and 18 they seem like an advanced version of Kidz Bop. However, the underwhelming Brewer Boys could easily go home as well.

As for the Girls, you could expect the extra cut to come from this category as it has one extra competitor. They're all so strong, though, that if there's any way to avoid that outcome it will probably be avoided. Simone Battle, who was shaky early on but gave a nice performance at Simon's house, will have to give a strong performance. So will Tiah Tolliver, who was one of Simon's favorites from the beginning but saw opposition from Paula and Nicole.

Who do you think will make it, and who will go home? Let us know your predictions!
