Update: World Meets New Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War Trailer
by EG
The upcoming Captain America: Civil War boasts a super-hero-studded cast, but by far the most highly anticipated member of that cast is the Amazing Spider-Man, who will be making his debut in Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe. Up until now, fans who have been eager to get a look at this new version of Spidey have had to imagine what the hero's MCU incarnation will look like. However, a new trailer for the film released this week finally reveals the Webslinger.
This week, Disney has been rolling out an onslaught of Civil War teases for the press and fans. First, it was a short teaser video featuring the members of Team Captain America, including the Falcon, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, followed by a similar teaser for Team Iron Man, which includes Black Panther, Black Widow, Vision, and War Machine. The missing piece, of course, was Spider-Man, leading the rumor mill to speculate that the release of the film's final trailer on Thursday, the date of which is teased prominently at the end of each "team" video, would finally show off Spidey and maybe even let us know whose side he's on. The rumors proved to be true.
Spider-Man's appearance in the trailer is brief, but it gets prime real estate at the very end of the clip, positioning the character as the film's hot new property. It also apparently indicates which team has Spidey's allegiance.
Captain America: Civil War will debut in theaters on May 6, 2016.
