'Words With Friends'-Gate: Did Alec Baldwin Quit Twitter?

'Words With Friends'-Gate: Did Alec Baldwin Quit Twitter? Call it Baldwingate or "Words With Friends"-Gate, but either way it's turning into a fiasco for Alec Baldwin. As we reported last night, Baldwin tweeted up a storm yesterday about an incident in which he was kicked off an American Airlines flight for playing "Words With Friends" (and then reportedly acting like a total jerk).

This morning, though, Baldwin has been conspicuously silent on Twitter. As it turns out, that's because his entire Twitter account has been deactived.

It's likely that Baldwin's management and PR team stepped in after the fiasco and had the star deactivate his Twitter so as to keep him from making the situation worse. Baldwin was plenty snarky about the situation yesterday, using the hashtag #thereisalwaysunited and calling the AA flight attendants "Catholic gym teachers from the 1950's."

Baldwin isn't the first celebrity to lose control of his Twitter. Ashton Kutcher famously tweeted what he claims was a misinformed statement about the firing of Joe Paterno and, upon finding that the damage control was too much to handle, gave his Twitter over to his PR team.

Baldwin's Twitter account has been anything but demure since the star joined up just a few months ago. Anyone who follows the "30 Rock" star has probably noticed the frequent feuds he gets into with various other Twitter denizens, often conservative writers or pundits. But considering that Baldwin may have been kicked off the flight more for disrupting the peace and less for playing on his iPhone, this particular feud may have been the last straw.

Baldwin's deactivated account now has 1,000 followers and counting.
