'Wolf of Wall Street' Star Will Play Joker's GF Harley Quinn in 'Suicide Squad' Comic Book Movie

The Joker just landed himself a real hottie!

Rumor has it that Margot Robbie, who broke out in her role in "The Wolf of Wall Street" last year, is set to star as Harley Quinn in the upcoming DC Comics movie, "Suicide Squad." Robbie and Warner Bros. have yet to confirm the reports.

The role is a big one for fans: Harley Quinn is the girlfriend of Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker, and she's been a big part of comics and shows like "Batman: The Animated Series" for a while now as a fan favorite. Go to any comic book convention and you're bound to see a lot of Harley Quinn cosplay.

This will be the first time the character is featured in a major live-action, non-animated project, so this could be a big win for Robbie. Additionally, she could end up being a big part of DC/Warner Bros.' future films, especially those related to Batman.

"Suicide Squad" is one of DC's lesser-known properties, though the characters within are a little more famous. The title centers around a squad of supervillains who form a specialized group for the U.S. government. The group has included countless members over the years, but the most recent iteration has featured Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Black Manta and Joker's daughter, Duela Dent.

However, the team might be tweaked somewhat: Lex Luthor is said to be appearing in the film, in which case he would be played by Jesse Eisenberg, who is set to take on the role in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Other actors being approached for roles include Will Smith and Tom Hardy, though their specific roles have not been named, nor have they been said to be considering accepting. Model Cara Delevigne was said to also be in the running for the role of Harley.

If Robbie is indeed cast, this would be another big addition to her schedule. She's currently playing Jane in a new "Tarzan" adaptation, and will appear in the upcoming films "Focus" and "Z for Zachariah."
