'Whose Line is it Anyway' Will Return to The CW!
by Shannon KeirnanIt’s the show where everything’s made up, and the points don’t matter… and it’s back!
“Whose Line Is It Anyway??” alum Colin Mochrie announced the news via Twitter.
“Oh, by the way, Whose Line is coming back. More details later,” the funny man said.
Yes, it’s true, folks. The CW will be reviving the popular improv show, which ran on ABC from 1998 to 2004, and on ABC Family from 2005 to 2007, adapted from a 1988 U.K. version of the show.
Show staples Wayne Brady, Mochrie, and Ryan Styles are all set to return, though rather than host Drew Carey, “Archer” star Aisha Tyler will be stepping in to dole out skits and pick winners.
When asked for comment, Carey’s representative said that they had heard no news on the revival. Carey currently hosts “The Price is Right,” so no doubt he is doing just fine.
The CW has picked up 10 episodes to start off with. They will air this summer.
If you’ve never seen the show, the host uses suggestions from the audience to guide performers through comedic improv skits. The performers act out scenes, sing, mime, and draw in audience members in hilarious moments where they can only ask questions, speak in rhyme, or by using sound effects… et cetera.
Perhaps for those of you who have never experienced the joy that is “Whose Line,” it might be better to explain with an example. Below you can find a skit from the show. Enjoy!
